There’s nothing wrong with wanting to save a little green on your white wedding! In fact, I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars more than you need to, for a dress that you can get at half the price!
The dress is often the center of attention for any wedding - both in the ceremony and the budget. If your budget is small, there are many ways you can still pull off a beautiful wedding WITH a beautiful gown: -- Bargain Wedding Dresses --
• Do you know a seamstress? Having your dress designed and sewn (or doing your own) is a great way to save a ton of money. You’ll only be paying for material and labor, not fancy designer names. Plus, the dress will be tailored specifically to your body; no additional alterations will be needed. • A handmade gown not an option? No worries. You can still find a dress at one of the major retailers inexpensively. Many of the employees in these places work on commission and will be more than ready to negotiate a fair price. • Other ways to save at the big stores – take advantage of sampler sales; be lenient about the size (it doesn’t have to fit like a glove) or switch to a lower-cost material. • Here’s a great trick to get a beautiful, inexpensive gown: use a white bridesmaid dress. Using this little trick will easily save you hundreds of dollars – especially if your taste leans more toward the simple and understated. • Charity shops are a great place to find vintage wedding dresses. With a few alterations your dress can look like a million bucks – for a fraction of the cost. • Renting your wedding gown is also an option. These gown renters get their merchandise from factory showrooms, fashion shows or women selling their gown. You can rent these gowns by the day for much less than buying a new one. • One final option is buying a gown on eBay. Most of the time the gowns will be used, but occasionally you will find a brand new gown for pennies on the dollar. Whether the gown is new or used, there are a few tips for shopping on eBay:
- Always check the seller’s feedback to determine his/her reliability. - Pay attention to shipping charges. The gown will lose it’s “bargain status” if postage is outrageous. - Use PayPal whenever possible. PayPal offers Buyer Protection. - Always read the fine print in the seller’s description. It should spell out any wear and tear, stains, alterations or the gown has been dry-cleaned. - Steer away from listings that don’t contain pictures and always ask questions before bidding. Discrepancies in their description versus what you receive could be grounds for a refundSimply put, there are plenty of ways to save money on your wedding dress. Be careful and do your homework. Don’t let the wedding of your dreams turn into a nightmare. -- Bargain Wedding Dresses --
