Black Wedding Dresses
-- Black Wedding Dresses --
Not every woman dreams of the fluffy white princess dress and fairy tale wedding. If you want to wear a black dress for your wedding, do it! While black gowns are not just for the Gothic scene anymore and yes, it’s your day, you may want to run the idea past your groom before deciding to take such a bold stop. But be sure that he knows, the black dress is back!
Top Tip!Before you buy anything online, make sure to check out the wedding dresses being offered on eBay. You can often find new or lightly used dresses at a fraction of what they cost in stores:
ChoicesBlack wedding dresses are the perfect choice for a themed wedding. Halloween or a red and black casino wedding, make a great venue for this gown type. And while it’s not just for the Gothic scene, obviously black gowns would be at home here, as well. One thing to consider before making the final decision on this gown type is that wedding shops and salons may not carry black “wedding” dresses. It may be a little more difficult to find them, but they’re out there. Try visiting a specialty bridal boutique, prom or formal wear sections in your favorite department store, costume or dress rental shops. You may also want to consider using a black bridesmaid dress or having a seamstress sew a dress you design. The black gown definitely creates a dramatic effect. Here are just a few things to try in order to make your black gown a hit at your wedding: • Black and white is stunning, but bright red, fuchsia or orange flowers, accents and accessories will really make the black “pop.” • If you’re wearing all black, have your husband-to-be wear an all white tuxedo. • Have your hair pieces and accessories tied into the ensemble by wearing tiaras, combs and jewelry embellished with black stones. • Avoid wearing red lipstick and black “cat eye” makeup. Make sure your foundation matches your skin tone and apply a blusher for a health glow. Avoid that “vampire bride” look – even if it IS a Halloween-themed ceremony. • Sequins and rhinestones add interests to a black gown. Sew them onto the neckline or onto a ribbon to tie around your waist. • Dye your veil black or skip the veil all together. Dye your shoes black, too!
The point is simple, it’s your special day and you should do what you want and what you’re comfortable with. If you’re certain that you are ready for the dramatic effect of an all or partially black wedding gown, than do it. Just be sure to do it tastefully so that you don’t regret your choice. Don’t feel obligated to be the princess bride just because you think that’s what you’re supposed to do. -- Black Wedding Dresses --
