Try using other desserts in place of a wedding cake.

Have an assortment of delicious desserts on a side table for your guests to take whenever they like. Or have them sent to their tables after dinner.

One great thing about doing it this way is that there will be much more selection for your guests.

Find A Tasty Alternative

Go to your local bakery or supermarket and have them give you price quotes.

Ask them to tell you which types of cakes are less expensive than others.

Each type has different ingredients and bakes times associated with it.

(For example, a carrot cake is going to be a lot cheaper than an angel food cake.)

The bakers should be able to tell you which ones will better suite your budget.

This works great because you can make it yourself in advance (for really cheap), and have it ready and waiting for you on your wedding day.

No hassle, and no worrying about keeping it fresh.

Or choose to have the bottom layers fake, and have the top tier made out of real cake. This way you can still cut the cake as bride and groom in your wedding photos.
