Country Wedding Decorations

Country Wedding Decorations

Planning a country themed wedding? Then it goes without saying that you will need some country wedding decorations! How will you incorporate the country theme into your big day to create a memorable, special event? Adding a few country touches in unexpected places will make your wedding a day to remember.

Getting Gingham With It

Nothing says county fair like gingham. These classic red and white squares will transform your tables to a country fete. Use gingham as tablecloths, or, for a more subdued look, feature white tablecloths with red and white gingham napkins. You can also use gingham tablecloths to decorate your country wedding cake table and other tables. This is perfect for an afternoon picnic, a country brunch, or even a sit-down dinner.

Country Flowers

There are certain flowers that have more of a country feel to them than others – for example, orchids are much more contemporary and modern (although, if you love orchids and are planning a country wedding, you can always make it work!). For a true country theme, opt for a more rustic bloom, such as sunflowers, daisies, black-eyed susans or wildflowers. For a more refined look, you simply can’t go wrong with the timeless nature of roses. Tall grasses and wheat are the perfect addition to your bouquets.

Lighting & Ambiance

Nothing creates a warm and romantic ambiance like candlelight! Country Wedding DecorationsTo give it country flair, light up your room with votive candles placed in mason jars, which can be rigged up with wire to hang from trees, fences, or simply placed on tables. Varying heights and thicknesses will add dimension and depth to your displays. Tin lanterns and oil lamps are also fabulous ways to light up a room, just be careful with fire codes! Twinkling fairy lights are a simple way to add elegance to any room, and hanging lighted lanterns can add a touch of whimsy.

Natural Elements

What time of year will you be tying the knot? Depending on the season, you might be able to incorporate treasures from the farm such as pumpkins, apples, corn, or bails of hay! Birch branches can make elegant yet natural centerpieces.

Rustic Romance

There’s something oh-so-romantic about a country wedding! For extra country style, use clothespins to hang your programs or escort cards. Have a “set” set up for guests to take their photos in front of – little extras like a bench, some drapery, and some flowers will make it a special moment. Be sure to serve down-home treats like apple pie, pumpkin pie, or favorite family dishes.

Farm Fresh Country Favors

When it’s time to bid adieu to your guests, be sure to send them home with something special! Why not give each guest a bag of apples, with your family recipe for apple crisp tagged to it? Or, give each guest a standard favor such as a candle or sweet jelly, but with a country twist: choose a sunflower motif, or a flavor that it is reminiscent of your day together, such as pumpkin.

Planning a country themed wedding is a fabulous way to remind guests that true love is really about the simple things in life!
