Looking for an edible wedding favor your guests will love?

Leave your guests with a sweet taste in their mouth by handing out edible wedding favors at the end of your reception. After a long day of festivities, everyone is bound to be hungry, so giving them something they can munch immediately is a considerate gesture. Or, please their palettes by giving them something gourmet that they can enjoy later! Edible wedding favors are always a favorite amongst brides and grooms – and their guests! Find a guest who doesn’t love to eat!

In a Bottle

Please your gourmet friends by giving them a lavish gift of something in a bottle – a fancy olive oil, a perfectly aged vinegar, or a fine cooking condiment. They can add flavor to their meals for many days to follow – and will think of your wedding day each time! Fancy mustards, barbeque sauces, jellies, and syrups are all delicious and elegant ways to say “thank you for coming.” You can often locate the makers of these fine products and order in bulk to save money – and ask them to make a special wedding label for you as well!

Savory Favors

Your edible wedding favor doesn’t need to be sweet! Show your friends and family you care by giving out a gift that will leave their tummies rumbling. Why not give out a combination of your favorite herbs and spices? Choose special herbs that represent you, such as an Italian blend (basil, oregano), a fall harvest blend (nutmeg, cinnamon), or an exotic blend (curry, paprika). Other alternatives might include hot sauce, meat rubs, fancy salts and pepper corns, or popcorn!

Sugary Sweet

Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and sweets – who doesn’t love a bit of chocolate or a decadent treat? You can make these yummy goodies yourself or order them in, but one thing is for sure – your guests will be enjoying your gracious gifts before they hit the road! Wrap treats in cellophane and organza, then tie with a pretty ribbon for a fancy look – and don’t forget a small card saying “Enjoy!” If you’ve made the treat from scratch, make it memorable by including the recipe.

Candies & Mints

From tic tacs to smarties, couples all over the world are saying “I do” to passing out fancy candies after their wedding festivities wrap up. Companies are in on the trend, and everyone from chocolate bar companies to M&Ms offers customized options, where you can have special packaging made up for your event – or even have the candies themselves personalized to reflect the happy couple. Lollipops, lifesavers, gummy bears and chocolates – how divine!

Regional Treats

Getting married in Vermont? Pass the maple syrup. Having a Florida Keys wedding? Key lime jelly, please! Make your wedding day a day to remember by choosing an edible wedding favor that has regional flavor. Whether it represents the bride or groom’s country of original, the location of the wedding, or some other special treat (such as a proposal, a first date, or an alma mater), choosing to give out an edible treat with sentimental flavor is both delicious and romantic! A cultural delicacy can also work as a wedding favor – for a cross cultural wedding, consider putting a treat from each side of the family’s heritage into a small bag, then tying the two together to represent the union of two cultures.

Giving out something edible is economical, fun, and a delicious way to show your gratitude. Don’t forget to keep a few extras for the happy new couple!
