Getting Married In Jamaica
-- Getting Married In Jamaica --
“Once you go, you know,” proclaim the ads – and it’s true! With the gorgeous beaches, crystal clear water, stunning sunsets and wonderful people, Jamaica is truly an unparalleled destination – and if you’re getting married in Jamaica, it will always hold a special place in your heart! There are so many gorgeous places to tie the knot on this gorgeous island – whether you want to say your vows on the beach, in a beautiful garden, a timeless church or on a cliff – the sky is the limit!
The Logistics Getting married in Jamaica is simple. One of the major benefits of choosing this country for your destination wedding is that all of your documents will be in English. You only need to be in Jamaica for 24 hours to get married there, unlike some countries where you must be in the country for a longer period of time prior to saying “I do.” If you are getting married at a resort, like most couples, the resort will usually be able to get a marriage license for you ahead of time. If the marriage is legally performed in Jamaica, it is the legal in the United States of America. You will need a passport and/or a birth certificate.
An Economic Choice
When you take into consideration how much a typical wedding costs, heading down south is actually a very economical option! Many resorts offer all-inclusive packages with only a small fee to cover the government costs. Packages usually include witnesses, an officiant, a small cake and champagne reception, bouquets, and paperwork processing. Other extras will likely include complementary massages, upgrades, and expeditions. Upgrades are often available to increase the amount of flowers, cake, and decorations.
Don’t Worry, Be Happy! Heading to Jamaica for your wedding is truly a laid back, fun way to celebrate your nuptials. Getting married in Jamaica is usually a stress-free experience. Decide early on what kind of destination wedding you are looking for: will you be brining along 70 of your nearest and dearest, a few close friends, or just your fiancé? There are many different destinations within Jamaica – head to Negril, Kingston, Montego Bay, Ochos Rios, Port Antonio or the South Coast. Negril is one of the most romantic areas of Jamaica with its five-star resorts, endless beaches, and stunning sunsets.
Island Bride Be a beautiful island bride by wearing a flower in your hair, and a gorgeous beachy wedding dress. Add a flower in your hair and you’ll be the picture of a gorgeous beach bride. Be sure to pack a white bikini and lots of sunscreen!
DIY You don’t have to go the resort option if you don’t want to – some brides are turned off by the fact that there are so many weddings at the resorts (although it certainly makes for an easy wedding!). Why not contact a local wedding planner and look into unique options? Maybe you’ll end up saying “I do” on a sailboat during the stunning sunset; maybe you’ll find a beautiful villa, or maybe you’ll wed at a local Jamaican church! Be creative and explore all your options. Remember, “Once you go, you’ll know!” The only problem with planning a wedding in Jamaica? You’ll be counting down the days until your next holiday!
