Head Table Wedding Decoration Ideas

After a long day of decorations, pictures, vows and "I Do's", you'll want some time to sit down and relax!Head Table Wedding Decoration Ideas

But that's not all there is to it..

At your reception, you and your spouse will be sitting at the head table. You may choose to have just the two of you at this table, or both sets of parents, or your entire wedding party. It’s up to you. If you choose to sit alone, it’s called a “sweetheart table.” The traditional head table is usually long, beautifully adorned, and a real focal point of the evening.

Whatever you do, you’ll want to make this table stand out from the rest!

Same but Different

For maximum effect, you’ll likely want to make your table similar to the rest of the tables at your reception – but it should stand out even more! Consider having your florist create a centerpiece that is similar to those on the small tables, but quite a bit larger and grander. The colors and general theme should be similar to the other tables. You may want to inverse the colors – for example, if your reception tables are cream with burgundy accents, do the opposite for your table. If you have a traditional long head table, you may need two or three centerpieces.

Special Seating

The bride and groom should have special chairs that are especially luxurious and grand. Why not purchase a set of beautiful chairs, or a loveseat, that you can later take home with you? You will always remember the first time you sat in that special seat, and it will become an intrinsic part of your home and a family treasure. Large throne like chairs are the perfect touch – and can be decorated with tulle, garlands, and more!

Reception Décor

You can bring the decorations you had at your altar to decorate your head table. This is a great way to tie your ceremony and your reception together – plus it’s cost effective to use the decorations twice. The garlands, floral arrangements, and tulle will create a festive and beautiful design for the head table.

Photographs and More

Many couples choose to have their head-table adorned with photographs. This could include photos of the bridal party from childhood, baby pictures, or photos of the couple with some of their cherished guests. If there are some loved ones who have passed away, or cannot be there on your special day, you may wish to have a photo of them with you as well.

Arches and Backdrops

Bring attention to the head table by creating a breath-taking backdrop or arch! Consider using pearly balloons for a majestic look, or lots of flowers and tulle for a romantic look. Special lighting will make your table stand out even more – consider a combination of spotlights and fairy lights. Draping material behind you will create a beautiful backdrop. Make your table even more of a focal point by having a large urn or column on either side.

Simply You

Remember, the real focal point of the night is you! Consider opting for a classically simple table, with just a few adornments. This will create a timeless, comfortable seating area – perfect for taking pictures, capturing memories and enjoying your special evening!
