Gel Candles - A container, at least 2 inches in diameter (use wine glasses, glass bowls, etc) - Candle gel - Wicks - Liquid coloring dye - Fragrance oil (optional) - Hot glue gun - Stainless steel pot - Thermometer
Step 1 Use a hot glue gun to glue your wick into the center of your container. Allow the glue to dry Wrap the end of your wick onto a pencil to hold it up right. Step 2Cut you candle gel into small chunks to help it melt faster. Melt the gel in the pot on medium heat. Step3 Using a thermometer, continually check your gel so that it stays around 200°F. (If you overheat your gel, it will loose its clarity.) Do this until all of your gel has melted into a smooth, syrupy consistency. Step 4 Add a few drops of your dye. Remember, less is more! If you add too much, you'll have to start all over again. (Add very little color if you will be adding objects to your gel). Step 5 Add your fragrance. Read the directions on your fragrance label for how much to add. Step 6 Heat your container using a blow dryer, to minimize the formation of unwanted bubbles. Step 7 For embedding objects, dip them in hot gel, and then lower them into your container before pouring in the hot gel. Step 8 While the gel is still hot, slowly pour the gel down the inside of your container. Step 9 Let your candles cool, and trim your wick to the appropriate size (be sure to keep it below the top rim of the container).
