Mexican Wedding Decorations
-- Mexican Wedding Decorations --
Planning and setting up for a Mexican wedding means lots of Mexican wedding decorations, bright colors, and unique touches!
Even a Mexican wedding dress may be in order! Make your fiesta a day to remember by adding some special decorations that will make your event truly phenomenal!
Color ThemeYou’ll want to start your Mexican decoration hunt by selecting a main color scheme. Typically, this will be bright red, with splashes of yellow, white, green and any other splashes of bold color that you love. You might want to include traditional Mexican prints and motifs on some of your stationary. You might want to choose a specific Mexican theme, such as chili peppers to spice up your day in a Latin way. Serve chocolate spiced with a hint of chili for a decadent treat! The colors? Dark chocolate and red, of course!
RosaryIt is typical of many Mexicans of Spanish descent to be of Catholic faith, making the rosary a widely accepted symbol. During the ceremony, the rosary is wrapped around the necks of the marrying couple, signifying their union. You can use the rosary as décor as well – have a rosary wrapped around each bouquet, or incorporate the cross into the design of your Mexican style cake. For a modern twist on incorporating the tradition of wrapping the rosary around the couple, consider incorporating it into your monogram. You can showcase the first initials of the bride and groom, and then have an artist add a rosary looping around the letters, perhaps with the cross doubling as an “and” sign.

A Piñata PartyA paper Mache container, often shaped like an animal or a heart, is suspended from the ceiling and filled with candy. Children (of all ages) take turns swatting the piñata in hopes of breaking it open and letting the candy fall to the ground. The guests all share in eating the candy. For a modern touch, fill your piñata with something unexpected, such as gift certificates, personalized candies, or flowers.
Mexican DécorBright south-of-the-border ceramics can add a touch of cultural magic to your display tables. Choose brightly colored bowls, pitchers, and platters to add a unique touch to any buffet table. You could even use these classically Mexican dishes as centerpieces. You can add to the décor by serving up traditional fare, such as nachos, salsa, and taquitos. Contemporary locations will often allow brides and grooms to feature food stations during the cocktail hour, which can be brought to life with a chef at each one. For a Mexican feel, have special chefs brought in to prepare traditional Mexican foods, such as a taco station. Add to the decor by serving up mojitos or tequila and gorgeous glasses adorned with fresh mint.
A Funky FavorIf you’re planning a wedding with lots of Mexican wedding decorations, you won’t want to send your guests home empty handed. Personalized hot sauce is a fabulous way to add a unique touch that will be sure to fire your guests up. Shot glasses can be personalized as well, or give out miniature bottles of tequila – add a lime and a tiny baggy of sale - and tie the trio up in a cellophane bag for a cute DIY approach. Planning a wedding with a touch of Mexicana is a great way to highlight a cultural background, a love of a country or just an amazing theme. Be sure to start your theme off early with the invitations, and follow it all the way through to the favors!
