No…it’s not your groom! It’s penguins – and they are popping up at weddings across the country! And it’s no wonder – just rent March of the Penguins and you’ll see how romantic these cold-air loving creatures are.

If you are planning a black and white themed wedding, these guys are the perfect addition! Or, go all out with a “romantic penguin” theme and incorporate it into your invitations, your décor – and oh yes, of course – your cake!

Comical Penguin Cake

Cartoon-style penguins are so sweet looking, they’re hard to resist! Ask your decorator to create a wintery scene where comical sugar penguins are sliding and prancing along the layers of your cake. Or, serve a large rectangle cake made out to look like a skating rink – with adorable penguins ice skating on it. Your cake baker may not have created penguins before, so be sure you both share a vision of what this intriguing masterpiece will look like!

Realistic Penguin Cake

If you prefer a realistic looking penguin to a comical one, don’t fret! You can have your decorate create more life-like figurines, or even purchase pre-made ones. Just make sure you give your decorate a clear idea of what you are expecting. If you really love a photo-like quality, you can even have a penguin photo screened right onto your cake.

Full Size Penguin Cake

You can create a wedding cake that is simply two lovable penguins nestled together quite easily. Have the cake shaped like two penguins snuggled close together, and iced carefully to show the black and white lines.

Penguin Cake Topper

A simple white cake with black accents can be finished with a sweet penguin cake topper! Spend some time looking online and you’ll find penguins smooching, embracing, slipping and sliding their way into your heart! Be sure to order well in advance to ensure delivery. If you have a color besides black and white incorporated into your theme, add a tiny blue scarf or red bouquet to the topper to pull it together with your theme. Penguins with top hats are especially cute!

Winter Wonderland Cake

Blue, silvery, and snow covered, a wintery themed cake is perfect for the bride and groom who are marrying in the colder months. Lots of glitter and sparkle will create a wintery effect. A few scampering sugar penguins will be the “icing on the cake.”

Penguin Cupcakes

Everyone loves a cupcake! They are delicious, covered in yummy buttercream icing, and evoke childhood memories. Serve dark chocolate cupcakes with white vanilla frosting, or white cupcakes with dark chocolate icing, each capped with a tiny penguin figurine. Or, have your baker make each cupcake look like an individual penguin. Another option would be to have the cupcakes arranged on a platter to shape a large pair of snuggling penguins. Divine!

Creating any sort of themed affair takes hard work, research, and lots of creativity! Penguins are a wonderful addition to your wedding theme, and can show up in unexpected places! Consider giving your guests tickets to a local aquarium as a gift, or make a donation to a penguin organization in each guests name!
