Small Wedding Cakes

-- Small Wedding Cakes --

Good things come in small packages, right? So, when it’s time to start thinking about wedding cakes, why not go with something small? A small cake can be a fabulous addition to any wedding; whether it’s an intimate family affair or an elaborate celebration.

Small Wedding, Small Cake

If you are not planning to have a huge wedding, there’s no reason to have a huge cake! Remember, the cake isn’t usually dessert – it’s a small token of how sweet your union is. In other words, a small slice will do each guest. Wait until you’ve got a solid head count before you confirm the size of the cake with your baker, if possible (some cakes need to be ordered too far in advance to do this). Choosing a cake that will properly serve your number of guests can take a bit of foresight; but it can also save you some money!

Small Table Cake

Smaller cakes can have a home at larger weddings, too! Why not serve one cake per table, instead of having one grand one? This will add to the family atmosphere as tables of guests cut their own cake and pass slices around the table. You can still have a cake cutting ceremony with one small cake. Set it to special music for an extra special effect! For a unique look, present each cake on a different cake platter. Bonus: the cake can serve as a centerpiece!

Small Individual Wedding Cakes

Want to add a modern spin to your wedding cake? Serve up some, individually portioned cakes! You can present these beautifully in a tiered fashion, with one small cake on the top and then individually portioned slices arranged artfully underneath it. Cupcakes are also a hot-ticket item.

Small Wedding Cake Details

If you decide to serve a small cake, you can afford to get intricate with the details! Look up examples of wedding cakes that appeal to you, and present them with your ideas. A small wedding cake covered with rolled fondant icing; and then decorated with intricate royal icing will be absolutely stunning! Details like sugar flowers, piping, or real fresh flowers will make your small wedding cake live large!

Save Money with a Small Cake

Brides are always looking for great ways to save a bit on the overall budget – and having a small cake at your wedding can save you hundreds of dollars! Consider having one small wedding cake for the bride and groom to cut – and then having pre-plated cake slices in the kitchen. Not only will this be less expensive than ordering a huge, tiered confection; it will also cut down on the time required to serve the cake.

Small Cake Flavors

You can order your small cake in virtually any flavor you can imagine! Having a relaxed summer celebration? Choose fruit flavors like raspberry or strawberry. Heading to a Caribbean locale? Showcase local flavors such as mango or coconut. In the wintertime, indulge in richer flavor combinations, such as mocha, cappuccino, or even candy cane!

Serving a small cake can have a huge impact! Choose a cake that suits your style, your budget, and of course – your taste!
