The Steps

Start by folding the bath towels into thirds (lengthwise), and then arrange them end to end, with the ends overlapping just slightly. Next, fold them in half again (lengthwise) and pin them together. Roll the towels tightly and secure it with a ribbon and/or pins. Your result should look like a round cylinder, perfect for the base of your “cake.”

Repeat this step with the handtowels and washcloths. Then secure the three tiers one atop the other. You can then decorate the cake with ribbons, petals, and other floral items.

For a unique look, use towels that match the couples’ wedding colors. Or, use towels that they had registered for so they are really happy with the gift! You can also tuck spa-items throughout the cake, such as bath salts, lotions, candles, bubble bath, etc.

You may wish to wrap the base of each layer with a wide bit of satin ribbon to make it look even more like a cake! You can also wrap the entire towel wedding cake in cellophane when you are done to hold it all together. Top it with a bow and you’ve got a show-stopping gift! You don’t need to make the towel cake out of bath towels. Consider beach towels for a beach wedding!
