Tulle Wedding Decorations

-- Tulle Wedding Decorations --

Tulle may just be the most versatile fabric in the world – especially when it comes to your wedding!

Top Tip!

Before you buy anything online, be sure to check out the tulle wedding decorations being offered on eBay. You can often find new decorations at a fraction of what they cost in stores:

What Is Tulle?

You’ve probably heard the word thrown around by everyone from the bridal gown consultant to the church hall organizer. Not sure exactly what it is? It’s a very fine, light weight netting. You may have already worn this fabric once before – if you were in ballet classes and wore a classic tutu! Tulle can be made from a variety of fibers, such as silk, nylon, and rayon. It is often starched, making it fairly stiff.

Basic Tulle Uses

Often used for bridal gowns and veils, tulle is also a very popular fabric for decorating. It can be used to decorate outdoor venues, such as gazebos or fences. It can be used to make a pew bow, or swathed around a head table. It can make any area look elegant, formal, and celebratory!

Buying Tulle

You can find tulle online, or at a local fabric shop. It is fairly inexpensive, which makes it an even more popular décor option! Buy it by the yard, or purchase it in bolts. It is available in essentially any color, and you can create a bold or soft tone depending on how many pieces you layer it with. Intertwining two or more shades of tulle can create an elegant effect – be creative! You can also purchase items that are pre-made from tulle, such as stylish pew bows.

Embellish It!

Personalize your tulle by adding a few personal touches. You can add beadwork, ribbon, or sequins. Add seashell decorations for a beach wedding. Use glitter spray, or get to work with a glue gun. You can attach real or silk flowers with wire for a natural adornment. Consider using one color as your base and then accenting it with a different color.

Light & Tulle

One of the most romantic ways to use tulle is to incorporate small fairy lights into your décor. When the tulle is draped over the lights, it will create a dreamy and romantic effect. Your light-embellished tulle can be used to create a canopy, line your aisle, or make a dreamy head table.

Creative Tulle Use

You can incorporate tulle into virtually any aspect of your wedding day! Cut squares of tulle and use it to package wedding favors, such as small candles or jams in, tying it altogether with a beautiful ribbon. Attach a small floral arrangement to the back of a chair with a draping of tulle to create pleasing chair covers. Use it in great lengths to create an overhanging for your dance floor! Decorate doorways and special tables (such as the guest book table or the area where the wedding cake will be served) with layers of dramatic tulle.

Tulle on the Beach

Tulle is perfect for a beach wedding because it will add an air of elegance to an otherwise casual setting. Consider creating an aisle or walkway out of tiki lanterns – and tying a length of tulle to each one. The tulle will flutter in the wind, creating a romantic effect. Embellish an arch where you will see your vows with tulle “curtains,” and either secure them with a pretty ribbon or leave them to wave in the breeze.

Tying Tulle Bows

Creating bows out of tulle is a popular use. Choose tulle that is 12 inches wide – you will likely need about 5-6 yards for a nice full bow. You can affix a bow to a covered or uncovered chair to add a splash of color and design. Simply gather the length of tulle into several equal loops, then secure them together with a wire and cover with a ribbon. Voila! Your perfect tulle bow is created. Tip: Make them in advance and then secure them to the chairs once you are on site.

Tulle seems to be the most versatile of all your wedding essentials! From decorating your head table to packaging up your favors, it tends to make an appearance at least once at most weddings! It’s also re-useable – so be sure to keep your decorations after the celebrations are over, to pass along to a friend or sell online!
