Wedding Aisle Decoration

-- Wedding Aisle Decoration --

Wedding Aisle Decoration
Decorating the aisle is something that many brides don’t think of until the last minute..

Do yourself a favor and plan out in advance what your aisle will look like. After all, it will set the scene for your magical walk down the aisle!

Top Tip!

Before you buy anything online, make sure to check out the wedding aisle decorations being offered on eBay. You can often find new decorations at a fraction of what they cost in stores:

Scatter It!

You can decorate any aisle by scattering rose petals or other small decorative items on it. Traditionally, the flower girl will walk down the aisle first, leaving a trail of rose petals for the bridal party to follow up to the altar. Not having a flower girl? No problem – have the aisle scattered with rose petals by an usher or bridesmaid. If your church has a scent free policy, consider using silk flower petals (tip: they can be used to decorate your hotel room later, too!). You may also have leaves or other small flowers decorate the aisle. Petals are available in many different colors, so choose one that matches your bouquet for a thematic approach. You can even order special petals that have your name and wedding date printed on them!

Depending on where you plan to hold your ceremony, you may choose to purchase an aisle runner. Make sure you know the length of your aisle in advance. Aisle runners are available in a variety of colors, styles, and materials. You may be asked to use an aisle runner before scattering petals as it will protect the carpet from staining. Aisle runners are particularly helpful for outdoor weddings, as they will prevent the bottom of your dress from becoming grass-stained. They will also add a touch of formality to a simple outdoor ceremony.

Up and Down

You can also decorate the sides of your aisle! For a beach wedding, this can be done with beautiful conch shells lined up and down the aisle. For a harvest theme, use pumpkins! You can use virtually anything to line your aisle, so be creative! Looking for a modern twist on having petals on your aisle? Have piles of petals in a variety of colors line either side of your aisle.

Think Outside the Box

Considering avoiding wedding shops altogether and visiting a carpet store – they may be able to help you choose a versatile runner that will work for your wedding – and possibly even become part of the décor in your home!

Customize It

You can purchase an aisle runner online that is customized to your special day. Aisle runners can be personalized by having your names and your wedding date printed on it! Be sure to order it will in advance. Your initials can be monogrammed on to the aisle runner in larger, script lettering for an elegant effect. You can also customize your aisle runner by having it in an unexpected color to offset your wedding theme!

Ribbons and Bows, Oh My!

You can make sure no one walks down your perfectly decorated aisle by sectioning it off with an elaborate ribbon detail. Ribbons and bows create a festive atmosphere to any venue. Loop them up and down the aisle for maximum effect!

No matter how you decorate your aisle, it will be one walk you will never forget. From a few subtle rose petals to mounds of fall leaves, your aisle is the backdrop for your first appearance of the day. Have fun thinking of creative ways to make it all about your unique sense of style!
