Planning a wedding means lots of “checks” on a master wedding check list. Wedding Check ListWhile each bride is different, this is an overall look at what you should be checking off your list in the months, weeks, and days leading up to your big event!

Keeping everything in order with a checklist can be a lifesaver, so start early and keep checking items off one by one – eventually you’ll be saying “I do!”


9-12 Months Before

Congratulations on your engagement! It’s time to select your wedding date. Talk to your fiancé and settle on a reception site, an overall style, and a budget. Create your guest list, start collecting addresses, and select your attendants.

Announce your engagement, and begin interviewing and researching vendors. If necessary, check out the marriage requirements and make sure you have all your ducks in a row.


4-6 Months Before

If you haven’t signed contracts with your vendors, now is the time.

It’s also time to meet with the clergy or officiant for your wedding and work on your ceremony.

Choose your wedding bands, order your wedding invitations, and confirm floral and cake arrangements. Order your wedding favors, book transportation and accommodations, and make sure that all bridesmaids have their gowns.

3 Months Before

Purchase gifts for attendants and parents, and start addressing your invitations. Will you need extra outfits for wedding activities (showers, rehearsal dinners, brunch, etc). Time to go shopping! It’s also time to start writing your vows.


Two Months Before:

Time to mail out those invitations! Finalize all your music selections, and double check your honeymoon plans. Have your ceremony programs printed, and put together Out of Town bags if necessary. Purchase any accessories, such as a guest book, that you may need. Confirm accommodations and transportation for guests as necessary, and start working on a play-by-play of how your wedding day will unfold.


One Month Before:

Meet with the photographer to iron out the details of the big day, pick up your wedding rings, and have a final fitting of formal wear. Check in with your vendors and ask people to make speeches at your wedding.


Two Weeks Before:

Wedding Check ListObtain your marriage license and plan out your seating plan. Write any toasts or speeches you plan to make. Keep practicing those vows, and start packing for your honeymoon! Confirm details with wedding vendors, and make arrangements for the gift table, place card table, and cake presentation if you have not already done so. Changing your name? Make sure you have all the proper forms.


One Week Before:

One week before the wedding, it is time to make sure all your rehearsal dinner arrangements are in order. Ask a member of your bridal party to transport any gifts you will receive at the wedding to a designated home or place. Call all your wedding vendors for final plans, and make sure you have prepared cash and payments for all vendors. It is time to give your caterer your final guest count, pick up your fomal wear, and pack overnight bags for your wedding night. It’s also time to wrap up any DIY projects!


The Day Before

On the day before your wedding, make sure you have all your accessories together. Distribute a final itinerary to all those who will need it, and attend your rehearsal dinner. It’s time to review all duties with vendors, clergy, and bridal party. Talk to ushers about where specific people will sit if necessary, and assign any last minute tasks. Practice your vows one more time, then go to bed and get your beauty rest!
