Wedding Church Decorations

-- Wedding Church Decorations --

No matter what the church you will be marrying in looks like, chances are you want to add your own special touch to it! Not to worry – there are loads of choices!

Top Tip!

Before you buy anything online, make sure to check out the wedding church decorations being offered on eBay. You can often find new decorations at a fraction of what they cost in stores:

A Visit will do Wonders

Your first step as you begin thinking of decorations is to visit your church. If possible, visit during the time of day that you will be getting married to get an idea of lighting. You may even be able to visit during another wedding to get a real feel for how the church will feel during your nuptials. On your visit, take a notepad, and your digital camera. Snap shots of the pews, the altar, the aisle, the windows, and the entry way. Speak to a representative of the church to get permission for your décor items – some churches have scent free policies.

Save Money

Ask your church if they have some decorations you can borrow – they likely have items in storage that suit the space perfectly. If your wedding celebration is close to a holiday, you may be able to take advantage of a pre-decorated venue! You may also be able to rent large trees from a landscaping or party company to add a touch of natural whimsy.

Make It Your Own

There are so many unique ways you can make the church your own. Why not decorate the doors with a customized decal of your names? Decorate the pews with your initials to add to the look of a monogrammed wedding. Have a framed photo of the happy couple near the entry point to add a personal welcome as your guests filter in.

Scent-ual You!

If your church will permit scent, adding an aromatic ambiance to your day is a wonderful way to create an overall atmosphere! While fresh flowers are an obvious choice, you can add to this in a variety of unique ways. For a fall wedding, tuck cinnamon sticks and dishes of spices around the church, and have lots of aromatic candles in scents like apple pie or nutmeg. In the spring, bushels of lavender will create lovely scent, or have dishes of potpourri in the room. You may wish to avoid scents if you have guests who are sensitive to smells. If so, create stunning arrangements from silk flowers and faux-ivy.

Floor Works

Your décor is not limited to the pews and the altar – show off your style by decorating your aisle to your taste. Consider an aisle runner in a color that matches your theme. Decorate your aisle with seashells, rose petals (silk replicas are available) or candles.

Pews & Altar

You can decorate your pews and altar in many different ways, from gossamer bows to ribbons and stunning floral arrangements. Touches of lace, pearls, and dried or silk flowers are romantic ways to make the church really yours. Bouquets of balloons will fill empty areas. Work with the beauty of the space, and take lighting into consideration. If you’re lucky, your church has beautiful stain glass work which will add to the ambiance of your special day!

Decorating the church is a great way to add a festive touch to an already wonderful space. From “less is more” to “more is more” mentalities, you can add your personal touch to any church to make the day you say your vows truly unique and as special as you are!
