Your wedding day is one of the most important days for you to look and feel your best. Makeup can play a big role in how much confidence you have when you're walking down the aisle. You don't want your makeup to be caked on, but you want to look as flawless as possible on your big day - Especially for all those cameras!
Here are some wedding day makeup tips and tricks to help turn you into a picture perfect bride!
Step 1: Exfoliate Your Skin Before you apply your makeup, you need to start off by prepping your skin. Gently exfoliating before you start applying will not only help your foundation go on more evenly, but it will also help keep your skin looking fresh.
Step 2: Moisturize It very important to keep your skin looking hydrated (especially if the climate in your area is very dry). Hydration will make your skin look fresh and youthful.
Step 3: Prime Your Skin Find a good primer to apply under your makeup. This helps fill in lines and create a smoother look.
Step 4: Foundation When choosing a foundation for your wedding, try to find one that's got more of a matte finish. This will help to decrease the shine on your face - a big "NO-NO" in wedding photos! Also, be sure to blend your foundation well into your neckline. Especially if your hair is up, or you're wearing a lower neckline.
Step 5: Concealer Limit your use of concealer. I say this because concealers a made to reflect light, making any photos you are in look shiny in the areas where concealer was applied. If you were to wear it under your eyes, in any photos you could end up with a "racoon" effect.
Step 6: Loose Powder Dust loose powder all over your face to set everything in place. Don't go overboard, but its also good to have to control shine. (keep loose powder and blotting papers with you throughout the day for quick shine reducing touch ups)
Step 7: Eye Shadow Try to opt for matte eye shadows, for the same reason as the matte foundation. You don't want to be shiny in your photos. When choosing your eye shadow colors, try to choose ones that go with your wedding colors scheme. You might even try matching you eye shadow with the colors in your bouquet.
Step 8: Mascara If there's one thing you remember, it is to wear a waterproof mascara. Even if you think there's no way you're going to cry, wear it anyway. Its better to be safe than sorry!
Step 9: Eye Brows Sweep some eye brow powder through your brows for a more defined look. If you don't normally wear anything on your eye brows, that's fine. But it doesn't hurt to sweep a bit of clear mascara through your brows to give them a more shapely look.
Step 10: Lipstick Line your lips with a matching lip liner to prevent your lipstick from bleeding. The follow with a sweep of lipstick, in a shade that match the rest of your colors. Be careful not to overdo it. The general rule is to put the focus either on your lips, or on your eyes. Not both at once. Don't wear lip gloss if you're wearing a veil. The veil will stick to your lips! -- Wedding Day Makeup Tips --
Tips: Keep your makeup with you (especially blotting paper and loose powder for shine) throughout the day for touch ups. Don't use eye shadows or concealers with light reflecting pigments in them. Look through magazines to find the type of look that you want. Choose your makeup to match your wedding colors. Prepare your skin by getting monthly facials before your wedding. Try using fake lashes to make your eyes "POP", but don't go overboard. Natural is key. Match your nails to your makeup colors. Drink lots of water all day (and for weeks leading up to it) to keep your skin looking hydrated. -- Wedding Day Makeup Tips --
