Wedding Flower Decorations

-- Wedding Flower Decorations --

Flowers are gorgeous, have a beautiful scent, and are a traditional way of decorating weddings. Wedding flower decorations range from the ceremony flowers to the reception décor. Smart brides are sure to transport their ceremony flowers to the reception site to avoid paying twice! Whether you have a tight budget or no budget, chances are that flowers will play a major role in your wedding decorations.

Wedding Flower Centerpieces

Wedding flowers are one of the parts of wedding planning that brides tend to obsess over! You’ll want to choose blooms that work with your color scheme, your budget, and your overall theme. In choosing your centerpiece, you can certainly be as creative as you like. There is truly only one rule that should be followed: make sure your centerpieces are low enough to the table that guests can converse over them; or make sure they are high enough that guests can easily carry a conversation under them. Nothing breaks up a table like not being able to see the people on the other side.

A Wedding Flower Theme

Many brides choose a main flower that will be a big part of their day, and carry it through the entire wedding as a theme. Choosing a floral theme early in the planning process, such as a single rose, a calla lily, or an orchid, can do this. The flower can then become an integral part of the entire wedding, with a motif featured on the invitations, stamps, and then carried through into the ceremony through the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnières. Use the flower as inspiration to your cake, real blooms can either be placed on the cake, or the cake designer can create sugary versions of your favorite flower.

Wedding Flower Garlands

Many brides – particularly catholic brides – may choose to feature beautiful garlands on some of the chairs at their wedding ceremony. For example, it may signify a reserved row, pew, or seat. Garlands should be made out of an inexpensive flower such as carnations.

Wedding Flower Arches

Whether you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony near a beautiful lake or on a mountain, or you want an arch made of flowers for your reception entrance, there’s something beautiful about an archway made of flowers. In Jewish culture, this could be a “chuppah” which signifies a house under which the couple says their vows.

Wedding Flower Wreaths

The wreath has long been a symbol of love and fertility; and it’s round, ring like shape echoes the shape of the wedding rings. Use floral wreaths to decorate the church doors at your ceremony, or any other empty wall at your reception!

Wedding Flower Petal Decor

You can create the aisle you’ve always dreamed of by spreading petals out on the ground. This is perfect for an outdoor ceremony in a garden or on a beach; but it can also be incorporated into an indoor ceremony. You may need to check with your clergy or site manager to make sure that scented petals are allowed on the premises. To save money, consider running only the sides of the aisle with the petals, or creating a swirly pattern of petals running up the aisle (be careful of wind though).

Incorporating flower blooms, petals, and buds into your special day will add to the overall décor and ambiance of your wedding. From a few daisies to a garland of roses, you can add your own personal touches along with a great florist to make your wedding day come to life with flowers!
