Wedding Reception Decoration Ideas

Wedding Reception Decoration IdeasOne of the most delightful parts of going to a wedding is that first peek into the reception room..

The lights, the colors, and the centerpieces intermingle to create an ambiance that truly reflects the bride’s vision for the day. And when you’re the bride, it is a truly wonderful feeling to look out into the sea of faces you love, highlighted by your own exquisite attention to detail!

Pick Your Colors

The first step for any bride when thinking about wedding reception is to select a wedding color palette from which to work. Choose a solid base, such as cream, silver, black, or chocolate brown – and then add in one or two accent colors, such as pale blue, red, sage green, or violet. Once you’ve chosen your colors, you will find it much easier to select all the other details!

Make It Unique

Choose three or four items that will make your wedding reception decoration truly one-of-a-kind. These should be elements that reflect your personality as a couple. This might include a unique way of setting up your place cards (why place them on a table when you could hang them from a ceiling?). Instead of typical table numbers, consider having table names that have special meaning to you. Or, if you do use numbers, present them in a unique way.

Centerpieces: Great and Small

The trick to centerpieces that work? They should be either below eye level or above eye level, which will allow your guests to converse easily without having to peer through a bouquet of flowers. Whether you centerpieces are large and ornate or fresh and small, you can make them stand out with just a bit of special attention. On a tight budget? Consider incorporating fresh fruit into your centerpieces for a burst of affordable color! Lemons, limes, and apples all look amazing!

Present the Food

One of the hottest trends in weddings is to have interactive food stations! If possible, have between two and four food stations during your cocktail hour; each one manned by a chef. The sights and smells will add to your overall décor! Food can also be beautifully presented. Consider a candy buffet, a seafood buffet, or a selection of signature cocktails in your wedding color to bring your décor to life.

Get Interactive

Reception décor really rocks when it gets guests involved! How can you do this? If your space allows, consider incorporating a lounge area into your reception. This is a place where guests can mingle, relax, and watch the celebrations. Special lighting, seating, and even curtains can make this space stand out. You can also get your guests to interact with the décor by getting them involved – for example, you might have each guest check under their plate for a sticker; the person with the sticker has to say a toast to the bride and groom!

From the tiniest details to the boldest of ideas, you can make any reception venue one to remember by planning out the details. Extra lighting, lots of textiles and fabrics, and fresh flowers and trees will add to the ambiance and create a night to remember – for you; and for your guests!
