Wedding Shower Decorations

-- Wedding Shower Decorations --

Throwing a shower?

How exciting! It’s time to start decorating..

This will set the tone for the day and add a celebratory feel to your festivities. Whether you’re holding the shower in a restaurant or a living room, there are a few things you can do to make it truly shower-ific!

(To make the experience even more memorable, set up some bridal shower games for everyone to play! Here's a great ebook with tons of creative game ideas.)

Top Tip!

Before you buy anything online, make sure to check out the wedding shower decorations being offered on eBay. You can often find new decorations at a fraction of what they cost in stores:

Theme Scheme

If the bride has already chosen a unique theme for her wedding, why not tie it in to the shower as well?

Its a fun way to give everyone a bit of a “sneak preview” of the event itself (but make sure it’s OK with the bride – she may prefer the theme to be a surprise on the wedding day!). If the bride doesn’t have a theme, you can create your own for the shower!

Throw a tea party and serve cupcakes. Have a coffee theme and treat guests to delicious mocha treats. Love chocolate or strawberries? Create a theme out of them! Be creative and have fun. Think about the things the bride really loves and work them into the theme for lots of laughter.

A Celebration Fit for a Queen

Have the bride sit in a special chair just for her. Decorate it to match the theme, or simply create a throne of sorts using lots of throw cushions and maybe a bit of satin. Place a tiara on your queen’s head and treat to a few luxuries, such as a pedicure and maybe even a performance or two!

Balloons and flowers are always surefire ways to make any space look happy and celebratory! Choose colors that match the wedding hues, and add lots of ribbon for a special touch. Streamers are great for showers as well, as they are fairly casual but bring back memories of happy childhood parties!

Necessities, Necessities

There are a few things you will definitely need if you are planning a wedding shower. First, decide what sort of food you will be serving. If it’s going to be a light lunch, coffee and tea, or a full on dinner, make sure you know how many people are coming. Many shower-planners opt for a more casual scene. Food may be served buffet style, and guests often eat off of paper plates. Choose paper cups, plates, and napkins that match your theme. Go girly (and budget friendly!) with a silly little-girl princess theme! Or, for an elegant feel, break out the silver and serve food on proper dinner plates. Make sure that you have enough to go around!

Personalize It

The shower is all about the bride. You can make it extra personal with a few photo collages. This can be done in many different ways. Consider blowing up a few baby pictures of the bride-to-be and decorating the room with them. A photo of the happy couple is always a nice touch, or a fun collage full of photos of the bride with her girlfriends. A signable frame can be found at many home décor stores and is a lovely way for friends to give well wishes. Remember your camera for lots of new shower shots! A banner or poster with a special sentiment written on it is also a great way to make the shower unique.

Planning a shower is a lovely gesture and a great way to get the ladies together before the big event. Be sure to have a frank discussion with the bride about budget, invitees, and plans before you go ahead and put everything together! Have fun planning!
