Learn how to make wedding toasts in no time!

-- Wedding Toasts --

So, you're supposed to give a toast or speech at someone's wedding, but have no idea what you're going to say..

Don't panic

Not everyone can be a professional writer, but writing a speech doesn't have to be rocket science either!

Read through our tips, and you'll be writing like a pro in no time!

* Decide how you want your speech to be. Do you want it to be funny? Emotional? Deep? Always remember to keep it appropriate to the crowd you are in front of.

* Start off by introducing yourself. Let everyone know who you are, and what your relationship is to the bride and groom (i.e.. how long you've known them, how you met, etc).

* Express your gratitude. Thank the bride and groom for having you at such a special occasion, and also thank the guests for coming.

* Compliment the bride and bridesmaids on how beautiful they look, and mention what a great job someone did one the decorations.

* Tell a story. - Funny stories about the bride and groom are a great way to lighten the mood, and keep the atmosphere comfortable.

* Add some jokes - Keep them short, and don't go overboard. One or two jokes in a speech should do the trick. Just be sure to consider who your audience is when telling jokes or anecdotes. An offensive or uncomfortable joke can turn an fun evening uncomfortable very quickly.

* End the toast with your well wishes and blessing to the bride and groom. Then lead everyone to raise their glasses in a toast.

* Timing is everything. Don't let your speech run too long, you don't want your audience yawning by the end of it. Keeping it under 5 minutes usually works best.

* Don't tell private jokes where you have to be "in the loop" to understand them. Don't exclude anyone. If you're going to tell jokes, make sure that everyone has a fair chance of understanding them.
