Western Wedding Decorations

-- Western Wedding Decorations --

Hosting a western wedding is fun, memorable, and a great way to showcase your personalities!

From marrying on a ranch to having your bridesmaids wear cowgirl hats, this theme is all about décor, décor, décor! Whisk your guests away into a western world from yesteryear by creating a Western themed reception that your guests will never forget.

Top Tip!

Before you buy anything online, make sure to check out the western wedding decorations being offered on eBay. You can often find new decorations at a fraction of what they cost in stores:

Choose a Mini-Theme

If you’re hosting a western wedding, you might want to narrow it down even further by choosing a “sub-theme.” This could be anything from a color choice to an emblem – imagine a set of interlocked horseshoes or a wild rose pattern. Hats can be a great western wedding décor item! Hang them on the back of chairs, or create a “his and hers” emblem of a black hat and a white hat tied together (this can be done with boots as well). Hats can be used to decorate fence posts, doorways, and can even be used as an amusing cake topper!

Once you’ve narrowed down your theme, you can decide how over-the-top (or how subtle) you want it to be. You can “go wild” if you want – or keep things a little…tamer.

Tie the Knot!

Use various lengths and thicknesses of rope and leather to decorate chairs, and doorways. With a bit of tulle and a little creativity, this can add just the right touch to your wedding day! Add in some floral accents to add a bit of femininity, and some ribbon to match your wedding colors!

Color Confidential

When it’s time to choose colors for your western wedding, think of what you see in nature. Depending on the season, this could be greens, pinks, blues, and browns. Turquoise and brown are a gorgeous combination, or go for various shades of sepia for an old fashioned look. Red is a great “western” color, especially when paired with white or blue. Silver and gold accents will tie your look together.

Transportation

For the perfect mode of transportation, you simply must feature horses! Have the bride arrive by horseback, or covered wagon! After the ceremony, the bride and groom can be picked up by a romantic horse drawn carriage. Not into stallions and mares? A fancy car will do the trick – just be sure that you have a “Just Married” sign complete with horse shoes on the back!

Make a Memory

Your frontier wedding will be one of the most romantic days of your lives. Invite your guests in on the fun by inviting them to come dressed to the theme! This could mean that jeans are a-ok, or that cowboy hats are expected. If you are having a specific dress code, give your guests lots of warning so they have time to find just the right western outfit. Alert your guests of the dress code by including a note on the invitation (which, of course, matches your western theme!)

A western theme can be a fun and romantic way to tie the knot! Throwing a themed-event takes lots of planning, and it’s all about the details! Keep all your wedding plans in a special binder or folder to keep everything organized. Have fun planning – and make sure to lasso that cowboy in on the day of the wedding!
