Winter Wedding Decorations

-- Winter Wedding Decorations --

Having a winter wedding? It’s all about keeping the cold air outside, and creating a warm ambiance inside! What sorts of winter wedding decorations will you be showcasing to create a wedding reception that’s all about you and your partner?

Make it Warm

One of the most magical things about a winter wedding is how cozy and warm it can be inside! How can you achieve this? Lighting, lighting, lighting! Candles in your centerpieces will add to the warmth of your overall day. Be sure to check with your venue about their candle policies – normally candles need to be in some sort of hurricane vase to decrease the possibility of an accident!

Candles aren’t the only way to add to the ambiance inside! Fairy lights (a.k.a. indoor Christmas tree lights) are the perfect way to add a sense of romance, glamour and intrigue to your décor! Christmas lights look especially fabulous when they are wrapped with tulle, as the light becomes softer and even more magical.

Take Cues from Nature

What colors are you going to have for your wedding? If it’s a winter wonderland look you’re going after, you might want to use whites, silvers, and blues. Want to have a holiday theme? Red and green might be a little too Christmassy – consider choosing just one of these colors and pairing it with another hue for a more subdued look. Red and cream; green and gold, or burgundy and black are all fabulous choices! You may also choose a “theme within a theme,” as winter is a very broad theme. Ideas could include “starry night,” angels, ornaments, or a simple color scheme. Whatever theme you choose, you can include it in many different aspects of your big day to make guests feel that they have truly been swept away!

Winter Wedding Centerpiece Ideas

Centerpieces add to the overall ambiance of a room in such a dramatic way. On their own, each centerpiece looks fantastic, but all in all, as a guest looks out over the room, it’s the sheer quantity of centerpieces that pulls the room together. What will you do for your centerpieces? For a winter wedding, consider having a branch-style “tree” in the center of each table, spray painted to match your colors. Tiny Christmas trees are lovely, although be careful as they can create visual block for guests attempting conversation across the table. A tall vase filled with ornaments in your color scheme is lovely. Or, you might opt for a simple candelabra. Then, of course, there are the flowers! It’s never the wrong season for stunning roses or gorgeous hydrangeas. Choose rich colors to work with your winter theme.

Saving Money on Winter Wedding Decorations

If you have a fairly long engagement, you can really save a bundle on winter wedding decorations! The trick? Start shopping early! In other words, take advantage of major discounts at seasonal sales, which will start the year before! Missed the big post-holiday sales? Not to worry. Many craft and décor shops will have some Christmas stock hidden away in the back that they might sell you, especially if they are a small shop. Websites also tend to offer off-season items in an online “sale” section. Don’t be afraid to ask!

Winter wedding decorations can work with your style, no matter what that is! From elegant and traditional to funky and modern, you can show off your wedding style with an array of wedding decorations that make major impact!
